We appreciate the opportunity to read your work; however, after careful consideration, we at Mid-American Review have decided your submission is not a match for us at this time. We do wish you the best of luck placing it elsewhere, however, and with all your writing endeavors.

Thank you for giving us a try.

A Rung Above

Thank you for sending your work to Mid-American Review. After careful deliberation, we have decided not to accept it for publication, though we wanted to let you know that we read it with more than the casual amount of interest, that your work in some way caught our eye.

We hope that you will send more work our way in the future. We also wish you luck in all of your literary endeavors, including placing this submission in another publication.

Slightly Higher Tier than That

Thank you for sending your work to Mid-American Review. Although we have decided not to accept it for publication, we wanted to let you know that we read it with more than the casual amount of interest, that there is much to admire in your writing.

We hope that you will send more work our way in the future. We also wish you luck in all of your literary endeavors, including placing this submission in another forum.

Thanks again for sending your work our way, ------, and please forgive my delay in responding to it.

Best, Karen Craigo Editor

Higher Tier, personal note

Thanks for your submission to MAR, and for your patience in awaiting a response.

This is a story I kept around so that my staff could discuss upon their return to campus this fall. While a lot of nice things were said, and the story had some support, I'm sorry to say that we are not accepting it for publication.

We do wish you luck in placing it elsewhere, and hope you try us again in the future.

Best,

Michael Czyzniejewski, Editor
