Dear —,

We are honored that you considered cahoodaloodaling worthy to receive your work, and while we thank you for the opportunity to read your work, we are unable to publish it at this time. We often pass on great submissions simply because they do not fit our final vision for a particular issue.

We hope that you'll continue to follow our calls for submission by signing up at cahoodaloodaling.com to receive our posts by email. Also, we encourage you to follow us through Facebook (cahoodaloodaling) and Twitter (@cahoodaloodalin) for additional updates between posts. We love hearing from our greater writing community.

We also hope that this doesn't discourage you and that you continue to submit your work for future issues both here at cahoodaloodaling and to the literary world at large. We know this is a difficult process for authors and wish you the very best of luck.

Best, Raquel Thorne Managing Editor cahoodaloodaling

If you are a Duotrope member, please consider reporting this response, as this will help other poets and writers to have a better idea of our acceptance rates for poetry and fiction, as well as an average wait time on responses. Dear —,

Greetings! We are honored and grateful that you considered cahoodaloodaling worthy to receive your work, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks for the opportunity to read your writing. Unfortunately, however, we will be passing on it for this particular issue.

Please know this is not a comment on the quality of your work. We often have to pass on wonderful submissions simply because they do not fit a certain vision for our issues.

We also hope that this doesn't discourage you from submitting your work to our future issues and to other literary magazines. We know how difficult it can be to bare your heart and soul, as well as intensely personal experiences, losses, and pains, to a community like ours, and we want to commend you for your bravery and honesty in sharing your work with us for this issue. As Natalie Goldberg once wrote, “Write what disturbs you, what you fear, what you have not been willing to speak about. Be willing to be split open.”

You have done exactly that, and we are grateful for it. We wish you the very best of luck.

Thank you again, sincerely, for your bravery.

Dear —,

We are honored that you considered cahoodaloodaling worthy to receive your work, and while we thank you for the opportunity to read your work, we are unable to publish it at this time. Know that this was not an easy decision for us—we debated over “—” quite a bit and it will be a very lucky journal who publishes this piece.
