2026 Semi-finalist

Thank you again for entering your poetry in the 2026 James Applewhite Poetry Prize competition. We are sorry to report that your semifinalist poem was not selected for the finalist pool or publication.


At this stage of the competition, finalists are being sent to the final judge, Tyree Daye. We expect to announce the winner and finalists by the end of the summer. That announcement will be posted on our website and in social media, so please check in then to read the results of the competition.


Given your success in the first round of consideration for this prize, we strongly encourage you to submit again to the Applewhite contest next year. Congratulations on being a semifinalist, and enjoy your 2026 issue of NCLR, which should arrive soon.
