Thank you for sending us "[submission title]." Unfortunately, we have decided to pass on this submission.

I realize this response is far, far overdue. Thank you for your patience in waiting to hear back from us. Submittable generally makes managing the many submissions we receive each year much easier, but the staggering number of submissions we receive means that it is still possible to misfile or lose track of submissions. We appreciate the opportunity to read your work, so we apologize for the delay. We are working to introduce new methods to shorten our response times and keep submissions from getting lost in the system.

We look forward to seeing more of your work in the future—and responding to it in a more reasonable amount of time. Submissions reopen next month! If you do submit again, please note in your cover letter that I specifically asked you to submit more work, so that we can expedite your submission to attempt to make up for this delay.

Sincerely,

Tiered

Dear [Author's First Name],

Thank you for sending us "Story Title." Unfortunately, we have decided to pass on this submission.

Thank you, also, for your patience in waiting to hear back from us. Submittable generally makes managing the many submissions we receive each year much easier, but we receive enough submissions that the process still takes some time. We are implementing new processes that we hope will speed our response times.

It is a privilege to read your work, and we look forward to seeing more from you in the future. We are open for submissions through the end of March.

Sincerely,

Thomas Ross
