Kia ora, —

Thanks again for your submission to takahē and for your patience while we read through all the submissions.

I'm sorry we didn't find a place for your work this time.

As you'll be aware, we can only publish a fraction of the submissions we receive, and often find we have to decline excellent stories.

Please let me know if you'd like some feedback on your story. I'll do my best to provide it within 3 months.

Ngā mihi,

Kia ora, and thank you for your poetry submission for takahē —. I read it with interest, and I’m grateful that you entrusted us with your work.

I’m afraid we’re unable to publish your work in this issue. It's never easy to make these calls when there are more poems I like than space to fit them in. It's a tricky and subjective process, and every issue presents a fresh set of conditions and challenges, so I hope you won't take this decision personally. I know this isn’t the news you were hoping for.

I’d be happy to read more work from you in the future.

Thanks so much for being part of the takahē community of readers and writers. None of what we do would be possible without you.

All the best,

Erik Kennedy

Poetry editor, takahē
