Western Humanities Review as been in continuous publication since 1947 and has featured work by some of America's most distinct voices: Wallace Stegner, Robert Oppenheimer, Ursula Le Guin, Raymond Carver and many more. We continue to seek fresh and original works of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and literary scholarship. And each issue is easy to carry and inviting to read. The editors of 32 Poems feel that a poem’s publication should not begin its disappearance; it is their mission to promote the work of contributing poets by placing 32 Poems with editors, nominating writers for recognition and prizes, and commending work to widely read online poetry sources. TQO is the literary magazine of Northwestern University and of the MA/MFA in Creative Writing program. Edited by graduate students in the program, supervised by faculty, and available around the world, TriQuarterly Online will remain "an international journal of writing, art, and cultural inquiry." Soon TQO will also begin to create an online archive of its own history by publishing individual works from its past, often with new accompanying comments by the writers. The Northwestern University Library is embarking on the project of digitizing the entire history of the journal.

As a web journal, TQO will also have the new capacity of adding audio, video, and a variety of new and frequently uploaded content to supplement its schedule of publishing issues twice a year. In 1958, the "tri-quarterly" was so named because its original form as a student magazine was published in each of the three quarters of Northwestern's academic year, and not in the fourth quarter, summer. This name has been belied at times by the magazine's real publishing schedule, but now TQO will alter the tradition quite deliberately to one of semi-annual publishing of discrete issues and frequent updating with new reviews, interviews, blog posts and excerpts from longer works. And for the first time, new writing published in this journal can be read everywhere there is web access.

Since 1960, Sou’wester has consistently published some of the best poems, short stories, and creative nonfiction being produced. Almost every issue includes one or more interviews, most recently with Julie Otsuka, Jane O. Wayne, R.T. Smith, and Li-Young Lee. SW regularlypublishes special topics issues, such as “The Long Poem and the Short-Short Story,” and, in Spring 2006, “Contemporary Catalan Poetry in Translation.” Sou’wester is meticulously produced and strives for elegance and excellence on and between the covers.
Our only literary creed is excellence. We don’t favor particular schools or groups or movements any more than we favor the established writer over the up-and-coming writer. Since 1960, Sou’wester has consistently published some of the best poems, short stories, and creative nonfiction being produced. Almost every issue includes one or more interviews, most recently with Julie Otsuka, Jane O. Wayne, R.T. Smith, and Li-Young Lee. SW regularlypublishes special topics issues, such as “The Long Poem and the Short-Short Story,” and, in Spring 2006, “Contemporary Catalan Poetry in Translation.” Sou’wester is meticulously produced and strives for elegance and excellence on and between the covers.
Our only literary creed is excellence. We don’t favor particular schools or groups or movements any more than we favor the established writer over the up-and-coming writer.
