Here in Outlook Springs, we value the work you send to us for consideration. And although we have chosen not to accept these pieces for publication at this time, we were incredibly impressed by the piece and by the strength of your writing. You have an incredible ability to assemble the debris of the world into something ordered enough to search for meaning, tempered by the wisdom to not falsify reason where it does not exist in a life. We believe in your work and in the strength of your storytelling, and we wish you the very best in placing it elsewhere.

Ladies Night

Hey ,

I'd like to thank you personally (because, for some reason, in Submittable, I tend to use the first-person plural—the “we” would like to thank you, “we have read your work,” “we,” “we,” “we”—and am now using first-person singular to create proximity!) for submitting to Outlook Springs for our second biannual Ladies' Night!

While I've decided that this work isn't quite the perfect fit for our little journal, I was struck by your abilities with , and have no doubt you can find a home for these pieces in the near future.

I wish you all the best, and thank you again for your interest in the maddened pipedream that is Outlook Springs,

Dear ___,

Thank you so much for sending us "Title." We appreciate the chance to read it and found it quite charming. Unfortunately, the piece is not quite right for us but we do hope to see more work from you in the future.

Thanks again. Best of luck with this. Sincerely, Hamlet Q. Crowley Councilman of the 7th District

Dear WRITER,

Here in Outlook Springs, we value the work you send to us for consideration. And although we have chosen not to accept “title of work” for publication at this time, we were incredibly impressed by the piece and by the strength of your writing. For this reason, we would love to see more of your work in the future.

Make no mistake about it: We here in Outlook Springs are a picky lot. We send these words of encouragement to one or two writers out of a hundred. So when we say we want to see more of your work, we mean it. Please send us whatever you have on file next. Immediately, if you can. And, if you don’t believe our enthusiasm, you may skip the submission line entirely and send your next piece directly to me at XXXXXX.

We believe in your work and in the strength of your storytelling, and we very much look forward to reading more.
